TAMU ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY
Social Meetings
Along with speakers, we also host social meetings. This gives our members a chance to interact with each other and ask any questions they may have about research, internships, career paths, professors and exams, volunteering, and life! These meetings also help to create a tight-knit group and a safe space to explore shared interests in all things zoology.

Socials can range from making food and playing Kahoot quizzes to exploring parks and searching for wildlife. Scroll down to see some activities we've done!

Herping at the Teaching Gardens

One social, we went to the Leach Teaching Gardens at night and searched for animals! This gave us the opportunity to learn how to use iNaturalist, an app that can be used to track species diversity by relying on observations from the general public.

We didn't ~just~ find herps. Members found frogs, toads, snakes, spiders, insects, a hummingbird, and our fundraising officer, Christopher, even jumped into the creek to get a closer look at a nutria!

Halloween Pumpkin Painting

Painting pumpkins is a Halloween tradition in Zoo Club. We all got a chance to relax after exam week! Even our club sponsor, Dr. MacKenzie, posed with the pumpkins.
